Yadkin County residents choosing to run for the following offices will file at the Yadkin County Board of Elections Office at 1300 Unifi Industrial Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055.

Please bring cash or check for filing fee; cards not accepted.

*Candidates for Sheriff

Effective 2021, candidates for sheriff may not file for candidacy if they have been convicted of a felony, even if the felony was expunged. Before filing, candidates must complete several forms and a disclosure statement verifying that they have had no prior felony convictions or expungements. Find the forms and additional information at Sheriffs’ Training & Standards Division | NCDOJ. A person who receives an unconditional pardon of innocence for their felony may file for the office of sheriff or be appointed to that office.

Candidate Requirements

 NC Senate

Candidates must:

  • be at least 25 years of age and
  • have resided in the state as a citizen for two years and in the district for one year prior to the general election
  • be a registered voter in Yadkin County

NC House

Candidates must:

  • have resided in the district for one year immediately prior to the general election
  • be a registered voter in Yadkin County

Yadkin County

Candidates must:

  • be at least 21 years of age and
  • be a registered voter in Yadkin County

Primary Elections

Candidates must:

  • be affiliated with the party for at least 90 days before filing

Municipal Contests

Candidates must:

  • be at least 21 years of age 
  • be a registered voter in Yadkin County
  • reside within municipal corporate limits
