Absentee-by-mail Voting

Absentee-by-mail requests for the March 3rd Primary Election must be received by 5:00 PM on February 17th, 2026.


To request an absentee-by-mail ballot online, visit the North Carolina Absentee Ballot Request Portal and follow the instructions. The portal provides a secure way to request an absentee-by-mail-ballot which will be mailed to you.

You may also mail a completed, signed request form or hand deliver it to our office.

Check your voter record at the State Board's Voter Search Tool to find out whether your ballot was accepted by your county board of elections. This information will appear in the voter record after a ballot has been accepted.
